Vision and mission
Our vision is for physiotherapy to be an essential part of a healthier Australia. We strive to improve access to high-quality physiotherapy, advocate for better care and strengthen the role of physiotherapy across the health system. We support physiotherapists to help people stay healthy, active and independent, while driving change towards a more accessible, effective and sustainable healthcare system for all Australians.
How the Australian Physiotherapy Association can help
The APA supports physiotherapists with education and resources to help their patients get the most out of life. Physiotherapist help people recover from injury, reduce pain and stiffness, increase mobility and prevent further injury. They listen to each person’s needs and tailor treatment to their individual condition and goals.
As first contact practitioners, you don’t need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist. Physiotherapists, doctors, and other health professionals will often work as part of a team to plan and manage treatment for specific conditions.
